Museum of the Great Southern Brig Amity

You can walk up the gangplank and step back in time aboard Brig Amity to find out what life was like aboard a convict ship in 1826.

As you explore the ship, listen to the story of Amity's perilous 6 week journey from Sydney to King George Sound to establish the first European settlement on the west coast of Australia.

Discover the sights and sounds below deck that were encountered by those aboard as they headed for unknown lands, sharing space with the ship’s crew, 23 convicts, 21 soldiers and enough domestic animals, food crops and building materials to start the small, remote outpost.

What Our Customers Say

Wonderful!

The staff was beyond kind and friendly. Room was lovely, comfortable and clean. Can’t go wrong with the beautiful spa bath, was a big hit! Great location and a pretty view of the town and once again wonderful service.

Comfy rooms and great restaurant

We spent two nights at the motel while in Albany to catch up with friends. Staff were warm and welcoming, and the room was comfortable and recently refurbished. We ate at Lime 303 twice while we were here. Great surroundings and a varied menu. The pork belly was delicious! Highly recommended!

A Little Gem of a Place

We were recommended this hotel from a local girl after we had a very disappointing overnight stay at h Ibis Styles, Albany. This place is fantastic. We had a Heritage Room which is one of the newly refurbished rooms. Small, but simply beautiful. Everything you need, comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, even biscuits! The bathroom, although compact, gorgeously designed and CLEAN. There was even a couch and coffee table in the room as well as a small breakfast bar area and fridge. Perfect. The on site restaurant is a definite must. The food was exquisite and not too badly priced either. Definitely check this hotel out when next booking your stay in Albany.

Comfortable stay

A comfortable stay in a large room. The reception advice on where to go in the area was very helpful. The attached resturant was very good though we only had room service, we missed the trick of eating there!

Short stay in Albany

We stayed in Albany for a couple of days, and stayed at the Dog Rock Motel. Hard to miss with the namesake 'Dog Rock' across the road. Well situated to the centre of Albany, with everything a short walk or drive to get to. Well appointed room, nicely renovated and very comfortable. they have an onsite restaurant Lime 303 which we didn't try, but there are plenty of dining options close by. Would recommend staying the the Dog Rock if you are in Albany.
